Sunday #Snippet 3 from #Chosen4life

Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you will stay a while and browse through the latest posts. It is a pleasure to be interacting with you and I love to hear feedback from readers/visitors.

Today we get to meet Beth. Beth and Alan were high school sweethearts. While in college they were married because they wanted to start their family. Never did they think they would run into issues with getting pregnant. In this scene, Beth flew from Oklahoma to Los Angeles to a “special” doctor….

Although Beth was expecting it, the knock on the door made her jump, and she looked at the man who entered. He sat on the rolling chair and addressed her. "Beth, how are you doing?"

"Pretty anxious right now," a nervous laugh escaped her.

He opened her chart, glanced at it, put it aside, and began. Once finished, he waited for her reaction.

Beth was silent as the ramifications of the blood test shook her to the core. She looked at the doctor, her hands shaking. "What you are saying is that if either Alan or I were with different partners then we would be able to have our own biological children? And that I have been getting pregnant and yet because of our combined antibodies, my body has miscarried our babies?"

  1. Now that is really awful news to receive from a doctor. Your detailed description made it very real. Well done!

  2. You can feel the emotions she's feeling. So sad.

  3. Oh, glory, what horrible news to find out your partner is literally incompatible. Great (and sad) snippet, K.

    1. Indeed, Siobhan. To be compatible in every way except to have children of their own must have been a huge shock to them.

  4. Philosophically, I say that if mother Nature says you're incompatible that should be it. Emotionally?
