About The Knight of the Dixie Wilds:

Buck Tyler, a man on the run…
With hope of a new beginning, Buck and his family relocate from Mississippi to Texas, after the Civil War ends. The United Sates is rebuilding, and military law has been instilled. He learns to defend himself and his family, against the tyrants of the new country, and finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

Maggie…
Dark skinned, yodeling Maggie, as good with a gun and a horse as any man, is Buck’s childhood friend. Simply, uneducated, and in love with Buck, she watches him grow from a boy to a man while hoping and waiting for the time he returns her love.

Kate…
Fair skinned, innocent Kate comes into Buck’s life unexpectedly and captures his attention immediately. Delicate and na├»ve, her innocence is captivating. He becomes her protector, coming to her rescue in the wild woods, but is held at a distance due to his transgressions. She swears is love for him until Buck’s personal enemy drives a wedge between them, and he leaves the country.

A timeless story…
A harrowing adventure based on true events, Buck is plagued by the uncertainty of survival as he faces battles, death, betrayal and sorrows. Will his acts against the law keep him from home forever? If he is able to return, will he win the heart of the one he loves? Or will she choose a life without him?

Snippet:

The second day after Buck met May Castle, he found himself waiting impatiently for the afternoon to come. Absence from the entrancing girl had increased his desire to be with her again. He also felt an urge to appear as attractive as possible when they met again, if indeed she cared enough for him to come.

He scraped the mud off his boots and tightened his hatband, which lately had become slack and allowed the brim to droop. He sewed a button on his shirt when he found one missing.

Using a gourd of clear water as a mirror, he discovered a thin, downy coat of fuzz on his chin and quarter of an inch growth on his upper lip. He had no razor, so there was nothing he could do about that.

At about four o’clock in the afternoon, he climbed his lookout tree and scanned the open places in the nearby swamp.

His heart beat faster when he saw May ride slowly into one of the openings about half a mile away.

The Knight of the Dixie Wilds is available on kindle, and in paperback.
